Scribbled Thoughts

Scribbled ramblings of my thoughts, observations and ideas on life, creativity and anything that takes my fancy really...enjoy!

So here we are....2009! Where did the last 12 months go?! This time last year I was knee deep in agency briefs trying to figure out how on earth three guys with very little practical knowledge of direct marketing were supposed project manage around 10 national campaigns and sell some cars along the way! I say three guys...I should really be saying me...the other two were Renault UK veterans and probably weren’t as panic struck as I when January came round, with six months experience, I was the novice on the team and was looking to get my teeth into the gritty side of the marketing communications business, which I may add opened up my eyes to a much wider world.

12 months on and I’m back to University, inundated with coursework, dissertation deadlines and revision calls from the customer management phase test that awaits me in two weeks time so I guess not allot changes in a year, okay so I’m back to the life of ‘Artful Tax Dodging’, but the situation is nearly the same, so much work, so little time!

To those of you who aren’t acquainted with me, I’m Rikesh (Rik to those who know me). At the moment I’m studying in my final year at DeMontfort University towards a degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications, whilst looking, like many of my binge drinking counterparts out there, to secure myself some sort form of employment after I graduate (that’s in July for all you agency people who wish to offer me helping hand – cheeky I know, but if you don’t ask you don’t get!).

So why start a blog? And what, if anything can you learn from someone who is in full time education himself? I hear you ask...Well, to that I say ‘everyday is a school day and why not’?! I’m a big fan of digital and technology, I like to hear about what others think, so I guess this is chance for me to start debate between those that know me and those that don’t as well as an opportunity to express my views on digital advertising, technology and comic books.....who knows, watch this space! (my blogger page is a little bit sparse at the moment but once I’ve got to grips with this thing i’ll be updating it to be more user friendly and easy on the eye)
